Written by two different authors, who have totally different perspectives on rapid classifications. The runs written by the father are over classified (rapids listed as Class IV are probably Class III). The runs written by the son are sometimes slightly under classified (rapids listed as Class IV might be IV+). This means when you read a description and it lists a rapid as Class IV you have no idea what to expect. This book is extremely outdated and there are better options available.

This book is a fantastic resource with almost everything you want or need to know about the areas covered. My only criticism would be that the maps could stand more detail, and be smaller scale. Regardless, it clearly identifies the access locations for rivers, all the major rapids, and how to go through or get around them. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in paddling in the western Carolina's.

Actually now know the author and he hand carved a walking stick for my husband who does trail work in western NC

Green (Before His Time) traces the team's history back to its roots in Depression-era Chicago and its early barnstorming years. Fans who remember the team through their television appearances in the early 1970s are in for an education, as Green undercuts the reputation of Meadowlark Lemon, whom other Trotters openly criticize as a poor player, while celebrating legends from the '40s and '50s such as Marques Haynes and Goose Tatum. During those years, the team was already honing its gags, but the players were also regularly competing against the nation's best college players—and even beating NBA squads before the league became racially integrated. A outstanding book about one of the greatest basketball teams in the world. Their history will amaze you. They routinely use to beat the NBA Champion in the 40's and 50's. You will enjoy every page. Well written.

In spite of my previous knowledge on the Globetrotters' history, it's incredible how many facts were included that I never previously knew. Honest and revealing book.

I am doing research on my great great cousin, Tommy Brookins and saw this book...He was one of the original Savoy 5....

This book is way too long to give the reader the desire to sit down and tackle it all! Good information, but just too much of it!
