Big time Cussler fan. (34th read). This one easily makes the top 5 so far. Good plot line with world-wide water piracy the theme and the NUMA team as the stopper as you would expect. Boat race segment was a bit of a stretch for belief, but was minor in comparison to the strong characters and great adventure woven into the rest of the tale. A tale that involved Bio-medicine exploitation, a long disappeared scientist discovered to be a living white goddess jungle queen and sinister corporate conspirators joining a 'Nordic' giantess in attempted world subjugation as sub-themes . Very enjoyable!
HOT TAMALE CLIVE you sure got a winner with this here Masterizzazione. From kidnapping and 10 years with a White godess amogst the wild canibiles to a majestic Norshman war ship then a Flying wing buried in an Alascan ice Cave with a 50 year Protcol and a tunnel under the wood shower. And finally arriving on old padallboat steamer and the death of a 7 foot tall evil bitch and the unfortunate death of the HERO of this book whom I will not reveal for future readers.HA HA.
This was a very good book. The setting and object of the criminal enterprise was approached by vastly different pieces of the completed puzzle. I wondered when I would find the solution as each adventure occurred.Clive Cussler is an unusual author and always presents a good book. This book would be a great movie if the story retained its original version in the movie script.
Assignment series. Yet in both of first two series books we never really understand Kurt Austin's motivation except that it's the right thing to do. I think there's needs to be a more in depth character development of both Kurt and Joe. I enjoyed the book , yet I look forward to learning as much about Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala, as Dirk Pitt and Al Giordano in other Clive Cussler novels.
Kurt and Hi are two of my favorite characters. They have been well developed over the life of the NUMA series, but is always fun to fill in New biography information. I thought I could feel water during the yacht race. The color and humidity of the jungle were palpable. It was a farfetched plot but only too believable in today's world. On to the next Cussler collaboration.
This is another wonderful book by Clive Cussler. I have read all his books. There is great detail, its fast moving where it needs to be and the story line is so very real like that its very believable, something that could be happening today. If you read one of his books, you'll get hooked and have to read them all !!!!! Susan K
Thoughout his career, Clive Cussler has given us villains mostly in the Dr. No or Goldfinger mode--mercantile tycoon types who pull some sort of mega-holdup that endangers the world. And this continues, despite the success of efforts like "The X Files", which articulate the current trendy view that Government--an Orwellian "Big Brother"--is the Antichrist. Corporate America is never--repeat--NEVER the bad guy (whatta you, some kinda Red?) except for Bill Gates--he's fair game because he's a nerd. But Cussler still sticks to his Superbad Guys, and as such, makes it clear that he still loves his country. That the weenies who gave us "The X Files" still do is not so clear. In this book, we have a Nordic Valkyrie who's planning up to exploit the growing water shortage and setting up an aqua-OPEC to gouge the thirsty. If you can afford it, bottoms up. If not, you die of thirst. What delicious evil in an age when the "proper term" for evil people is "dysfunctional"! In this time of ambiguities and moral and philosphical relativism, I LOVE an author who calls a spade a spade! To paraphrase 1960s country/ comic singer Larry Verne; "please Mr. Cussler...don'tcha ever go!"
If you have read any of Cussler's books you know your in for a wild and adventures ride. His books are suspenseful and Heart felt. Blue Gold has you on the edge of your seat and keeps you up all night. Read just one of his books and you'll be hooked forever waiting for his next new story to be published. Thanks for the Journey
