About the Author

George Mason has been senior pastor of Wilshire Baptist Church since August 1989. At Wilshire, he birthed and directs the pastoral residency program that has become a model for other congregations nationwide. He earned a bachelor of business administration degree in 1978 from the University of Miami (Florida), where he was a quarterback on the football team. He also holds M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

I read Sequin Star II first, then I. Very very powerful books, comprehensive, thorough, with a poetic intensity that quite frankly blew my mind. If you are interested in this case and do not wish to be led down a primrose path of irrational suppositions, then these books are for you. I will continue to expand my knowledge of interesting crime stories via the authorship of Van Der Leek and Wilson and I highly recommend their story telling to all. Pauline

I am a huge fan of Nick and Lisa and this is the most in depth look at the Jonbenet Ramsey case I have ever read. They brilliantly use an analogy which compares the sequin star found on the poor little girl to the many bizarre misdirections within the case. I enjoy the sarcasm and humor inserted when needed to break the intensity. I also enjoy the many links to photographs and video clips. Very much looking forward to sequin star part 2 and a huge thanks to the authors for tackling this mammoth case and breaking it down for those who 20 years later want to know what really happened.

Can't wait for part 2 too be released!!!

Biased conclusions by the author.

Readers: give yourselves up to this next Ramsey case trilogy. This is the stuff! This relentless post-mortem of the gratuitous post-truth of this investigation is van der Leek & Wilson better-than-ever! You will be angered, energized and well-informed in ways that will likely spill into your own personal battles with post-truth abuses of your intelligence (from your consumption of the current media - to calling out a fraudulent bill-collector- you won't take anything passively at face-value anymore after reading these trilogies!) The authors prove once again that they are more than equal to the job of translating to the reader the psychological and behavioral "black holes" that swallow up the human spirit of those who shine and are burned by the blinding starlight and reflected glory of manufactured fire.

Okay. Van der Leek has really cleaned up the screw ups and typos a lot since the earlier books. He could still hire a college kid, or me, to proofread before publishing but, oh well.This is not a rehash of the commonly known facts and ideas regarding the JonBenet case although for clarification he brings us up to speed so that the newer material fits. It has many little insights and idea-rejects to make the read worthwhile. I will be happy to continue with parts 2 and 3.But check this out. When Mark Karr was grooming some Boulder writer guy to report him as The Killer he said he'd confess and everything would be honky dorey as long as this dude promised that Johnny Depp would play him in the movie.Did you get that?Hey, Johnny Depp! You have to play Mark Karr in the movie! You don't have any choice. Part of the deal. C'mon now, Johnny, this little schmuck from Colorado made this deal.

I am a fan of Nick and Lisa's collaborations, and a fan of their newest installment in the Ramsey series as well. The symbolism of the sequin star JB wore in death is artistically woven throughout the narrative, in a poignant way. Just when you think you know all there is to know about JonBenets murder. . .

This book, and the ones following in this series, are for people who are into true crime cases that have never been solved. There's much to be discovered in them, facts that weren't known if one just follows media coverage. The mental exercises that are set forth within are really eye-opening when it comes to psychological behavior.
